Eggs are a common household ingredient you will find in any fridge. Here is how you can tell if you are buying the freshest eggs just by reading the egg carton.
Eggs can supply many nutrients to the body, but if you aren’t buying the freshest eggs, you might as well throw them out because they aren’t doing you any good. Eggs do go bad just like anything else, so this is something you need to know. Do you know how to tell if eggs are fresh or not?
If you look at an egg carton do you notice any numbers on it? The numbers are the date that the eggs were packed. But, sometimes the dates don’t tell you what you need to know so you can figure out how fresh your eggs are. We all want fresh eggs; no one wants to eat a bad egg.
If you want to find out if your eggs are fresh, do this: look at your carton of eggs and look at the three-digit code. This is not the sell-by date, but the Julian date. Eggs can sit for about 45 days until they are packed in the carton, just a little side note. If you see the carton code is 001, it means that these eggs were packed on January 1. If the carton says 365, it means they were packed on December 31st.
So, the next time you go to a grocery store you know how fresh your eggs are! Just look at the three-digit code and it will tell you the day they were packed on, and whatever day you’re on when you go to buy them, determines how old they are. It’s simple, easy, and a great way to tell if your eggs are fresh.
